After the tornado we met the crew from Molly Green boutique clothing. Not only were they dealing with the total destruction of their store and loss of livelihood, they were dealing with the loss of life. A couple was killed next to the store when the tornado struck.

We chose to install photographs of the store’s owner, Brittany Hartwell, and her crew, Brandon Hartwell, Kelsey Wells, Heather Johns, Jessica Lanier, and Mary Lokey, along with photographs of others affected by the tornado to honor their memory–right on the walls of the broken buildings! most of which were slated for immediate destruction. It seemed a fitting way to acknowledge both the fragility of our lives and also the strength of the city’s spirit to keep going in the face of trouble.
